Did you ever wonder…
How smart ants are?
How butterflies eat?
How birds fly?
How clouds are made?
Or why it rains?

Well, I certainly did! Come along with me, as I tell you my story and we go on adventures and learn together!

The Story of the “Kid”

Not so long ago, I was a just an ordinary couch potato. I spent much of my time sitting on the couch, watching tv, snacking on junk food, playing video gamesCouch Potato on couch and pretty much just being lazy. I didn’t always feel well, I never felt like doing much else and when the other kids would come to my house and ask me to play, I usually just said no and went back to my place on the couch.

But one day, my Mom gave me this fun book called Hiking for the Couch Potato Kid, and I learned that there was a whole world just waiting for me to explore and ways to have fun that I could have never imagined!  As I began reading the book, Inquisitive child peeking out doorI started to become more and more curious.

How do creatures move?
What do they eat?
Do they have babies they are protecting?
What colors do they show?
How do they hide from their enemies?
Where do they make their homes?

Before I knew it, I was off the couch, putting on my sneakers and heading outside! I was so excited to see all of the new things I was reading about. And, as they say, the rest is history. Soon, I was seeing the butterflies, birds and ants. I was watching as the wind carried the clouds by. Just about every day, I was outside, exploring and seeing all the wonderful things I read about in that book! Some days I hiked, some days I biked and other days, I just explored around the neighborhood. Every day was an adventure and now, I want to share my adventures with you.

Here are some fun things I’ve discovered during my adventures:

Here are some ways you can get started:

  1. Take a hike with your family
  2. Identify 5 creatures that you see in your yard or out on the trail
  3. Take time to observe the creatures you find and see how they go about their days (but don’t touch them)
  4. Ask Mom or Dad for your very own copy of Hiking for the Couch Potato Kid, so you can record all of your adventures

Here are some fun things I have learned since I became a Hiking Couch Potato Kid:
